The recent delivery of two Dynapac CA280 single drum vibratory compaction rollers completes the fleet expansion programme by Ajman Investment, Marketing and Services (AIMS), Road Contracting Division following its formation in 2007. Ordered through local distributor INMA, the Dynapac fleet today comprises 11 models and includes an F141C paver, three CP271 pneumatic tyred rollers, two new CC424HF and two CC422HF double drum vibratory rollers, plus a CA250 and the two CA280 single drum vibratory rollers. The fleet is being constantly used on projects around the United Arab Emirate of Ajman including intersections and main roads close to the City’s new industrial area; designed to cope with the resulting traffic densities. Ajman is currently enjoying a construction boom and by the year 2030 is expecting its population to increase eight-fold. The upgrading contract was awarded to AIMS – Road Contractracting Division under the supervision of Chief Executive Ahmed Al Fara and includes widening the roads with a second lane in each direction. Key to the success in completing the contract on schedule, with just 3km to complete on the 13km project, AIMS has been utilising its Dynapac fleet comprising the F141C paver, two CC422 compaction rollers and two CP271 pneumatic rollers. With the new road widened with two 7.5m lanes and a hard shoulder, construction has featured a 20cm wetmix roadbase and 20cm sub base course topped by two asphalt layers. Featuring a 10cm and 6cm precompaction thickness compacted by the Dynapac rollers to 8cm and 5cm respectively, the specified 99% degree of compaction was easily met. The Dynapac paving and compaction train had also been used on the earlier completed 20km similar upgrading contract in the City’s Jarf industrial area. A spokesman for AIMS said that the company was expecting to win several roads related awards on the spectacular Al Zorah project and would be relying on their new Dynapac fleet to achieve the high specifications required. The Al Zorah Development is located in Ajman and will comprise 12 million m² of coastal and reclaimed land to provide an extended 12km waterfront new city development. The total value of the development is anticipated to be US$59.8 billion. The Al Zorah Development Co is a joint venture between the Government of Ajman and Solidere International Ltd. |
