NCAT, National Center for Asphalt Technology,
located at the Auburn University, Alabama USA

NCAT works to improve hot mix asphalt performance and is able to simulate 18 years of traffic loads in only 2 years. For this reason, lorries loaded with heavy steel plates circulate steadily on the altogether 2,8 km long test track.

In 2006, Dynapac was given the opportunity to lay Compactasphalt on the NCAT test facility.

Dynapac laid two layers of the newly developed open porous asphalt type (Popcorn) in a working width of 5,40m, total length 65(!) meters with a layer thickness of 35 and 20 mm with largest particle size 12,5 respectively 9,5 mm
