Atlas Copco appoints new distributor in Botswana

“The booming construction industry in Botswana has for many years remained a largely untapped market for Atlas Copco, but this is set to change with the appointment of Parts Sales Botswana as a distributor of Atlas Copco Road Construction and Construction Tools equipment.” comments Bill Jenkins, Business Line Manager for Atlas Copco’s Road Construction Equipment division in Southern Africa.

Gaborone is currently busy with major infrastructural developments including an extensive road network upgrade, the construction of two dams, an extension of the power station, hospitals, stadia and the massive upgrade of the Sir Seretse Khama Airport.

“- For many years, Botswana’s diamond mining activities have made a major contribution towards the country’s GDP, but this is changing and construction activities are making a significant impact on GDP figures.” comments Mike Denbury, Managing Director for Parts Sales Botswana.

In terms of the agreement that has been entered into between Parts Sales Botswana and Atlas Copco, Parts Sales Botswana will market and provide aftermarket support for the full range of Dynapac road construction equipment, including the light and concrete range or products, as well as Atlas Copco’s extensive range of hydraulic, pneumatic and petrol powered construction equipment.

“We have been involved with the Dynapac brand in an ‘unofficial capacity’ for the last two years and can confidently say that this is a good product that is well accepted in our local market.” adds Mike.

Parts Sales Botswana was established in 1987 employing only six people. It has grown into a business that currently employs almost 60 people. The Head Office is situated in Gaborone, but a smaller setup in Francistown services the needs of customers situated in the Northern reaches of the country.

“This is a partnership that will provide Botswana’s construction industry with access to an extensive range of quality construction equipment and aftermarket support from a well respected service provider in the region.” concludes Jenkins.
