Compacting asphalt at a too high temperature may result in hairline cracks and mix displacement. If the asphalt is compacted at a too low temperature, there is a risk that the bonds between the aggregate and the binder will break up, or that the aggregate will be crushed. Our asphalt temperature meter lets the operator know when the asphalt is in the ideal temperature range for compaction, which consequently will result in a better compaction result. The meter has three indicator lights: • Red: Too hot for compaction • Yellow: Ideal for compaction • Blue: Too cold for compaction The operator can easily adjust the temperature ranges for the indicator lights. |
